Follow the basic steps listed below to create a simple vase arrangement.
1. Cut soaked floral foam above the rim of the vase. Fit snugly into container, leaving approximately 1 inch of foam above the rim of the vase.
2. Anchor foam to container with waterproof tape. Add water with floral preservative to fill the vase.
3. Pre-green vase with small pieces of foliage.
4.If using a clear vase, pack crushed cellophane loosely around the floral foam to disguise the mechanics.
5. Place primary rose into container to establish height. This should be 1 1/2 times the height of the container. Cut each flower stem with a sharp knife as flower is placed in vase.
6. Work down from the top primary rose to the rim of the vase. For a structured look, be sure to space flowers evenly. If designing a vase to be seen from all sides, be sure flower placement is balanced and round in shape.
7. Insert accent foliage into the design to complement the flowers. Be sure to let the natural foliage of the roses become part of the design. Remember to remove any flower foliage that will be placed below the water line.
8. Place filler flowers into the arrangement to fill space and help shape arrangement into the desired form. They should not extend above the top flower.
9. Evaluate the design; adjust as needed to complete design
10. Add florist Bow
• 8” from one end of ribbon, pinch firmly between thumb and index finger.
• Make a 3” loop (half the size of finished bow) pinch tightly. If ribbon is one-sided, twist length to right side. Make second loop and pinch over first to pinches.
• Repeat this process forming 4 loops on each side.
• Make a center knot by forming a small loop over your thumb, pinch and wire all loops together.
11. Helium fill 18”foil, Hi-Float and helium inflate 6 - 11” latex balloons,
Attach to ribbon. Use a sizing template to ensure all the latex balloons are the same size so they will nest together and create a symmetrical bouquet.
12.
Gather three of the latex balloons in your fist and pull down tight on the ribbon to get all three balloons even and resting on your fist. All three balloon necks should be at the same level.
13. Repeat Step 2 with the other three latex balloons and nest them into the first layer of balloons. The two layers should be spaced so you don’t see gaps between layers.
14. Add the Foil balloon so that it’s nested on top of the arrangement, then attach arrangement to floral vase.
